Yarnbombing at Descanso Gardens

For my Mother’s Day this year, I yarnbombed a pillar at Descanso Gardens–by permission, part of a bigger installation by Yarn Bombing Los Angeles–we were doing pillars, benches, overhead structures, etc. at the entrance of the gardens. It was fun to hear reactions from the folks leaving today.

I worked on this a lot on spring break, when we took a road trip…

…to the Grand Canyon.

I really like your pillar. How long will it stay up?

Boulder is rife w/ yarn bombing, but the colors fade rather quickly at that altitude.

I don’t know for sure how long the installation’s up for. I think it might have been commissioned in connection with this upcoming show, which runs all summer:
Kind of hoping there’s some fading! With a yarnbomb on a four-sided pillar, it’ll be fun to see what the light does.

Took it down last weekend. Some of the other pieces will be there through June 20. Mine wasn’t even up a full month, and I don’t see any fading–looks pretty good.
